Modern Cinderella
A contemporary interpretation of the classic Cinderella silhouette, designed through a softer, more modern lens. Modern Cinderella combines a structured satin bodice with an ethereal sheer skirt to balance romantic femininity with clean construction. Designed in 2019 for Spring/Summer 2020, the piece explores how a familiar fairytale reference can be translated into contemporary occasionwear.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
From initial sketch to pattern development and final construction, each stage focused on preserving the softness of the original concept while resolving the garment technically.
FROM CONCEPT TO CONSTRUCTION
The design was developed through patternmaking, fit and hands-on construction. The fitted bodice uses princess-line shaping to create structure through the torso, while the extended off-shoulder detail frames the neckline. A lightweight sheer outer layer adds volume and movement to the skirt, balanced by a solid lining underneath.
