SCARBOROUGH WALK OF FAME

The Brief
Support the planning and promotion of the Scarborough Walk of Fame—an event dedicated to recognizing individuals with Scarborough roots whose achievements have made an impact locally, nationally and internationally.
Beyond celebrating its inductees, the initiative was created to strengthen community pride and help challenge the stigma that has historically shaped perceptions of Scarborough. The event creates an opportunity to tell a different story about the community: one centred on achievement, talent, leadership and possibility.
The Creative Challenge
The visual communication needed to do more than promote an event. It had to give the achievements of its inductees a platform while presenting Scarborough as a community worth celebrating.
My role was to help translate that purpose into a cohesive visual experience across the event—from promotional materials that built awareness beforehand to the presentation design used to tell those stories on the day itself.
My Role
I worked across both the creative and organizational sides of the project, supporting event coordination while taking ownership of the graphic design.
I designed the promotional posters and supporting event graphics, and developed the PowerPoint presentation system from the ground up. This included establishing the layouts, hierarchy and visual consistency needed to bring together different inductees, stories and event information within one cohesive presentation.
Creative Direction & Design
The design system needed to feel celebratory and prestigious while remaining connected to the identity of the Scarborough Walk of Fame.
I created a visual language that could extend across multiple formats and touchpoints, ensuring that promotional materials and event presentations felt like parts of the same experience rather than individual pieces.
Each design decision supported the larger objective: placing the focus on Scarborough’s people, their accomplishments and the positive impact they represent.
Presentation Design
I designed the presentation system from the ground up, creating a flexible visual framework for event information, audience insights, promotional strategy and supporting content. The system established a consistent hierarchy and visual language while allowing each section to serve a different communication need.
Event Coordination
My involvement extended beyond design. I also supported the organization and execution of the event, working alongside the team to help bring the experience together.
Being involved in both planning and creative execution allowed me to design with the realities of the event in mind—understanding how the graphics would be seen, used and experienced by the audience.
The Outcome
A cohesive visual and event experience that celebrated Scarborough through the people whose achievements have contributed to the community and its story.
The project demonstrated how design can do more than communicate information—it can help shape a narrative. In this case, the work helped shift the focus toward achievement, community pride and the people who continue to make Scarborough worth celebrating.
